Come to make a splash at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center - named one of thirteen world class aquatics facilities in 2011 by Aquatics International - in the 50 meter Olympic sized pool and kid friendly leisure pool with dumping buckets, spray features, a two-story and triple loop water slide.

Come to navigate the 17-mile Poverty Creek Trail System that traverses Brush and Gap Mountains in Jefferson National Forest. Hikers also enjoy the trek up to Stiles falls - a 45-foot waterfall near the village of Shawsville.

Come to attend the annual Blacksburg Brew Do craft beer festival and to sample beer at Bull & Bones Brewhaus' state of the art 10 barrel brewery.

Come to visit the Cambria Depot - a restored 1868-1870 Tuscan Italianate Design railway station - and to watch a movie at Starlite Drive-In - one of only eight remaining outdoor drive-in theatres in Virginia - and to view cinematic performances at the Lyric Theatre - a restored 1930's theatre in downtown Blacksburg.

Come to enjoy the Huckleberry Trail - a six mile greenway that runs between downtown Blacksburg and the New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg.

Festivals

Each year an eclectic assortment of festivals take place throughout Montgomery County. Here are just a few of the marque events.

Blacksburg Brew Do (October) - This annual event, held at the First & Main shopping district, features beers from more than a dozen Mid Atlantic craft breweries, live music and food from area restaurants.

Blacksburg Fork & Cork (May) - This annual event, held at the First & Main shopping district,  features wines from more than a dozen regional wineries, culinary delights from local restaurants, cooking demonstrations, regional art, and live entertainment.

EastMont Tomato Festival (August) - Annual festival held in the eastern Montgomery community of Shallsville.  The event features contests, food and a wide range of events.

FloydFest (July) - Is a world music and arts festival held annually in nearby Floyd, Virginia. It takes place on an 80 acre venue directly off of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

International Street Fair (April) - Annual festival sponsored by the Virginia Tech Council of International Student Organizations. This event is a great opportunity for adults and children of all ages to learn about different cultures and sample exotic cuisine. Student organizations from all parts of the world sell items such as authentic cultural dishes and traditional arts and crafts.

Montgomery Heritage Day (September) - Annual festival celebrating the history of Montgomery County. The event is held at the Montgomery Museum in Christiansburg and features live music, food, antiques, historical re-enactments and vintage craft demonstrations.

Riner Heritage Day (September) - Annual festival celebrating the history of the Riner community. The event is held in Riner and features live music, food and a parade.

Steppin' Out (August) - Downtown Blacksburg's annual street festival featuring over 150 artists and crafts people from around the United States selling unique handcrafted items – jewelry, pottery, textiles, metal work, basketry, stained & fused glass, yard art, fine art, furniture, toys, artisan foods and so much more.

Wilderness Festival (September)- Downtown Christiansburg's annual street festival featuring live music and theater, food, exhibits and a car show.
